Endless Water Walk

8.02.2016

The Graduate Student Poulomy Chakraborty, Department of Environmental and Global Health at the University of Florida, made this painting called ”Endless Water Walk” for UN-Water.

Poulomy spent several months in Kisumu in Kenya for her dissertation research field work, studying gender and social disparities in water, sanitation, and hygiene in urban slums. This painting is a reflection of her field visits from the community in Kisumu, where women spend several hours each day fulfilling the requirements of their family, including water, sanitation and hygiene needs. Poulomy would soon complete her dissertation and aspires to pursue a career to improve the conditions of women through improving the WASH conditions in developing communities.
