"My work starts by dipping my brush in an old jam jar filled with water. Water determines the fluidity of what I paint, changing the texture, intensity and often the message of the work - clear, lucid colours, full of water or heavy, intense, thicker paint with the merest drop of water, can create a different mood or feeling. Drinking coffee and painting means that occasionally I see a swirl of paint in my cup, as I dipped my paintbrush in my coffee instead of the jam jar!"
