The Marathon Walker

Are you familiar with Siabatou, a woman from The Gambia who walks long distances every day to get water for her family? Like her, many women in Gambia must walk the equivalent of a marathon to reach safe water.

Last year, Siabatou joined the Paris Marathon and captivated the crowds by walking with a 20 kilo water container on her head. She was there on behalf of Water for Africa, a non-profit which builds boreholes in her village.
