Rowing 175 Nautical Miles

18.03.2016

According to the adventurer and photographer Oskar Kihlborg, researchers at Stockholm University say we have more and better information about the surface on Mars than about the Baltic seabed. In September 2011 he therefore rowed the 175 nautical mile journey from Stockholm to Turku. The aim was to highlight the importance of a modern research vessel in the sea, and at the same time he took the opportunity to make observations for researchers.

"…this way to travel is fantastic, better than paddling. It is as quiet but incredibly more efficient because you can use the entire body...", says Oskar.

The trip across the Baltic Sea took less than two weeks and required about 75,000 strokes.
