Key to Conserve Ecosystems

Climate change is already visible in parts of Bolivia. The community are aware of this fact, and want to take back control of their water and protect their headwater forests. 

Natura Bolivia therefore established five Water Funds in the Santa Cruz valleys, and initiated provision of in-kind compensation packages to help upstream landowners meet the opportunity cost of conservation and enhance their incomes.

The Swiss Re Foundations ReSource Award focuses on social entrepreneurial approaches implementing the principles of sustainability in water management, and aims at contributing to the advancement of water resilience in low, lower-middle and upper–middle-income countries.
