Protecting Indigenous Peoples

Through much of Central America, Indigenous Peoples - particularly women and children - lack access to safe water.  The struggle to access water undermines their health, education, economic well-being, and quality of life. As part its commitment to Indigenous and Tribal People, the International Labour Organization (ILO) launched programmes in rural Nicaragua and Panama to empower local communities to better manage their water resources. These initiatives helped improving their access to safe, reliable drinking water.
