Water saving habits are best cultivated from young. Schools in Singapore are encouraged to organise Water Rationing Exercises (WRE) during the month of March to mark the World Water Day. With the temporary disruption of water supply at selected water points in schools, students experience the inconvenience of not having clean water readily available at the turn of a tap. This reinforced the message that clean water does not come easily and should not be taken for granted. Students can make a difference by making it a lifelong habit to save water, and encouraging others to use water wisely.

From 5 schools in 2016 to 116 schools in 2019 – this year saw the largest participation of schools since the WRE programme started.
